Dennie Curtis
Daniel K. Curtis began his circus career in circa 1907. He was a horse trainer and rider who developed a number of different acts with horses and other animals. Unusual was his taximeter mule act. His wife Edna was elected to the Circus Hall of Fame in 1957. A biography of Dennie Curtis is in the Nov-Dec 2000 issue of Bandwagon.
This may be his taximeter mule. Autographed: "To Captain Bob Ward, A Real Thriller, Dennie Curtis" (Capt. Bob Ward was a daredevil and had a traveling stunt show in the 1930's). On back of photo: Dennie Curtis Attractions, featured for 20 weeks at Lagoon Theatre, Century of Progress 1934, Perm. address, Westmont, IL
Autographed: "To Captain Bob Ward, The One & Only Bob, Dennie Curtis 9/11/36." Photo could be from 1934 based upon the stamp on the back (same as above).
